Summary: As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and security, our district recognized the importance of re-engaging our staff in Active Shooter/Violent Intruder Training to better prepare for potential incidents. The safety team consisting of Zachary White, Mike Kwiatkowski, and Chase Hurst, completed a comprehensive ALICE Training for Active Shooter Response during the summer. This two day training encompassed classwork, video instruction, tests, and scenario-based exercises, resulting in the safety team earning ALICE Active Shooter Instructor certification. Subsequently, they collaborated with District leaders to develop a training program that was delivered to all Platte County School District staff prior to the start of the school year. Additionally, the training was extended to include all District substitutes. The training equipped PCR-3 staff with proactive measures to enhance their readiness for responding to violent intruder incidents. The safety team led staff members through site-specific scenarios and established protocols for handling such emergency situations. As a result, our staff left the training feeling well-informed and empowered to navigate this specific emergency response process. Our safety team remains dedicated to continually improving safety awareness, processes, and providing the necessary tools for our staff to carry out their roles in a secure and supportive environment.
