Summary: Dr. Aaron Duff, Director of Secondary Education, will introduce Valorie Stokes, librarian at PCHS, to the members of the Board of Education.

Ms. Stokes participated in a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Landmarks of American History and Culture workshop: The Problem of the Color Line: Atlanta Landmarks and Civil Rights History in Atlanta, Georgia, July 10-15, 2022.

She was chosen from among 110 applicants for one of the 36 workshop slots and had the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Civil Rights leaders at historic sites in Atlanta, study primary documents associated with the topic, and hear from living participants from the Civil Rights Movement in Atlanta.

Ms. Stokes seeks out summer learning opportunities to model lifelong, real world learning in action for both the District’s students and staff. As a result of their learning, participants come away from NEH immersive workshop experiences with enhanced knowledge and extensive professional network connections along with access to an array of resources and materials to share with colleagues and to utilize in their classrooms.
