Summary: During the 2017-2018 school year, the Northland Career Center (NCC) Diesel Technology Program Advisory Committee recommended the purchase of a Snap-On Multimeter system that provided certifications to diesel students. This purchase was made the following school year in September of 2018. Over the course of the past four and half years, 134 students, including many from Aviation Technology have earned this national certification. Beginning in the Fall of 2021, the advisory committee began recommending the Snap-On Torque Certification system. The purchase was delayed one year as funds were spent to upgrade the torque wrenches and other tools in the Diesel Technology program. Now that those tools have been successfully updated and upgraded, the FY 2023-2024 budget was developed to support the purchase of the Snap-On Mechanical and Electronic Torque Certification system. This purchase will support other programs including Aviation Technology, KC Tech Academy and other skilled trades programs at NCC.

The Snap-On Mechanical and Electronic Torque Certification system will cost $32,275.89. This purchase is a 75%/25% reimbursed grant, and will only require $8,068.97 local funds from NCC’s budget with the remaining $24,206.92 being reimbursed as part of the enhancement grant process.
